WIFI Access Points with NDK 2.0

I have been investigating netstatus.sh and I have found no way to list the available WIFI Access Points.  I am assuming Playbook NDK 2.0 provides that function and other related functions such as channel, signal strength, SSID, and encryption butI just don't know where to look.

Would someone please confirm my assumption and show me where to find it?

I wouldn't count on that information being accessible. At least, not yet.

I think you can get basic info about which interfaces are available, but not all the usual WiFi detail.

Re: WIFI Access Points with NDK 2.0

Hi Peter,

Thanks, it's quite frustrating.  I assumed, obviously incorrectly, that the Native Development Kit would provide access to at least, if not more, information that is available on the Android systems and that, to me is implied, as already available through Android apps running on the Playbook.

I don't understand the Playbook's team development philosophy.  It would be nice if Rim would provide a road map of what is, what will never be, and what will and when be available to the developer.

I am beginning to lose interest.

Roger

Are you saying that the Android player has access to the WiFi info including SSIDs and signal strength? That would surprise me greatly.

Have you seen Wifi Analyzer from farproc in the Android Market?

I generally ignore Android. Does this app run on the PlayBook?

I don't know but in either case it's sad for Playbook.

It is really frustrating that RIM doesn't allow us to get this data and doesn't provide any information when or even if this data will be available anytime ...
