bt_spp_open_server() works not as expected

Hello,

i try to use bluetooth service on BlackBerry Z10.

For me it looks like bt_spp_open_server() works not as expected

Example:

QString uuid= "00001101-1111-2222-3333-444444444444";

QString serviceName = "My Service";

char* uuids=uuid.toAscii().data();

char* serviceNames=serviceName.toAscii().data();

if (bt_spp_open_server(serviceNames, uuids, 0, BTControllerSPPCallback, reinterpret_cast<long>(this)) == 0) {

updateChatWindow("SPP Server started. Waiting for clients..\n\n");

}

The client (WIN XP) receives as service name "SPP Service" instead of "My Service"

and the standard uuid of "00001101-0000-1000-8000-00805F9B34FB".

Best regards

Andreas

Re: bt_spp_open_server() works not as expected

Hi,

I only have access to Win 7 at this time - and I do see the service names;

spp.png

When i go into the port properties in device manager - I only see the long version of 1101.

What happens when you attempt a connection?

Re: bt_spp_open_server() works not as expected

Hi,

we have the same problems with WIN 7.

We can establish the connection and the communication works fine.

But for identification reasons we would like to see the service string.

Here some additional data of our device :

Model Number STL100-2
Software Release 10.0.10.32
OS Version 10.0.10.261
Build ID 426597

WIN 7 Services

Re: bt_spp_open_server() works not as expected

Hi,

In the Bluetooth 'Services' tab on the Win7 PC for my BBZ10 device I see (among the other services) the SPP Service as:

Serial port (SPP) 'SPP Service'               COM3

But I would expect to see

Serial port (SPP) 'My Service'                 COM3

P.S.: how can I attach a screenshot? (Image URL?)

Checking to see if there was anything corrected since 10.0 (i tested on 10.1 and 10.2)

(To do the screenshot, I save the screenshot then press the 'tree' button...)

Re: bt_spp_open_server() works not as expected

Development has confirmed that the service name was added after 10.0.

As for the UUID windows is showing - it appears windows is showing the type of the service - not the UUID.
