Re: 8700 series says os 4.5 is supposed?

Well I tried it again.

*deleted from "add/remove program" the 8703e os

* restarted the computer

* downloaded the new 4.5 os again

* restarted the computer

* ran the 4.5 software

* removed the vendor xml

* in the same location ran the application loader, it did not recognize the upgrade

* tried the desktop manager, did not initially recognize the upgrade.  Tried to apply it through the browse feature and selected the 4.5 os.

* recognized the 4.5 and proceeded to apply. Invalid configuration listed below came up.

* closed desktop manager and reopened it.

* DM prompted me to upgrade

* at the end it again displayed Invalid configuration listed below.

Iinvalid Configuration

The application "Blackberry PGP Email Library" cannot be loaded, because it requires the following applications that are not available:

net.rim.platform.ecmascript

Hopefully you can help me out with this.  I searched for this file but did not find it?

Are you doing any editing or removal of files from the Java folder before running the upgrade?

No editing what so ever, other than removing vendor xml.

Re: 8700 series says os 4.5 is supposed?

Do a complete wipe of the BB following this procedure.

MAKE CERTAIN you have a good backup of your device data first.

You will need to use JL_Cmder to wipe the device and subsequently load the OS to the device. Follow the instructions here:

Re: 8700 series says os 4.5 is supposed?

Well I have tried everything and still no luck.

* wiped the bb with JL_Cmder

* would not load 4.5 os, said email setup loader missing files

* DM said missing files and error

* search for hours for a solution

have decided to give it up. Although one thing I did notice in reloading my original os was that there is a

* 4.2 system application

* 4.2 core application

In the downloaded 4.5 version there is only core application available. Thanks for trying to assist me.  If you find the answer some where send me a note please.

Could I have not tried to download the os for the 8800 from my carrier?  Someone told me the devices are similar?

I gave you the link to the 8700 OS above. If you downloaded the 8800 OS that is on your own.

1. It won't work on a 8700. If "someone" knows that it will, turn to them.

2. JL-Cmder will work and wipe the device you just must follow the directons exactly as posted. Not doing so will cause multiple errors and lots of headache.

Re: 8700 series says os 4.5 is supposed?

[ Edited ]

1. Ok I did not use the 8800 os, was just asking a question.

2. I downloaded the 4.5 os from your link.  After I had removed all traces of my previous version os and the DM I then restarted the computer, and loaded the DM again and the 4.5 os removed the vender xml.  I then restarted and used the loader in program files/common files/research in motion/application loader

3. I followed all of your instructions except possibly one. I read the instructions on wiping the bb although are you suppose to leave the battery out of the bb, when you wipe with JL_Cmder. This I did not try, the battery was in.

I had put bb unite on my bb awhile ago and had many problems,  I had to use Cmder to get rid of everything as it had put I believe it was an IT server on my bb.  Since then I have removed the IT server although the firewall still say enabled and I cannot change it.

1. I don't know what the problem is could there be hidden files somewhere?

2. Do you think that the application 4.5 os is correct when it only has 4.5 core application and no system application?

3. Do you think a certain DM version would matter?

Look at your BB > Options > Security > General Settings > scroll to the bottom under **services** what does it say?

1. I don't know what the problem is could there be hidden files somewhere?  I doubt it.

2. Do you think that the application 4.5 os is correct when it only has 4.5 core application and no system application? Yes, I do.

3. Do you think a certain DM version would matter? No, any version of Desktop Manager should do this upgrade. If you are in doubt, upgrade to the latest version of DM 4.7, withOUT media manager.

There is nothing listed under *services* although at the top it states firewall is enabled and I cannot change it.

I dont believe you answered my question about using JL_Cmder.  When you wipe the blackberry does the battery need to out?

One other thing I had backed up my third party programs by using desktop manager and switch wizard.  Although I could not put them back on the blackberry intially.  I had to add my restored files, once I did that it allowed me to add the 3rd party file.  Why is that?

I do appreciate all your assistance with this.

Yes, the battery should be out.

I don't know why your third party apps would not restore initially.
