I have been looking into third party apps to edit word/excel, etc.  I found one but it says it needs the 4.5 OS on the device.  We have multiple blackberries and are running a BES server, 4.1.5.26, but the Devices OS are currently 4.1.0.352.

I called our provider yesterday and they stated (US Cellular) that the 4.5 OS for the devices other than the Blackberry Curves and Pearls is not yet available. 

It sounds like you found the OS.  Looks like you had some trouble with the install, did this ultimately work?

US Cellular is a CDMA network, and the OS discussed here for the 8700 is for GSM devices. This OS will NOT load to a CDMA device.

You likely are speaking of the 8703 and not the 8700, of which this thread is about?

It is all clear now.  My phone that we have been writing about from the first post is an 8703e the first post stated that.  I also asked about a 4.5 os. I asked about its classification as here on Blackberry when you look at phones to purchase the 8703e is listed in the 8700 category therefore having me to believe that indeed the 8703e is an 8700 series phone.  Although from your last post the 8703e is not actually an 8700 series phone.  The phone is also part of Bell Mobility a CDMA carrier.  I don't believe at any point was there any mention of GSM or CDMA.  So let me now get this straight.

8703e is not an 8700 series phone

CDMA will not with 4.5 os being offered for the 8700 series

I believe the problem is solved!!!!!!

I believe the link to the 4.5 os should be update to include that it does not support 8703 phones and only for GSM phones.  That would and will save a lot of headache.

Thanks for the update, and I DO apologize for overlooking the initial mention of the 8703. It is there!

Now, that said, there IS an OS 4.5 in testing by the carriers for the 8703, including Alltel. It is just a matter of time, hopefully.
