I am just getting around my 8700r now with a bit of confidence. I have discovered that theres 64MB of memory in it. Can I get this increased, and if so how, or where? (there doesnt seem to be an extra memorycard slot).
I have also put about 6 pictures on there using MediaManager, but they take up a bit of room (about 550KB each), and the preloaded Pictures are about 25KB each. No more pics will load on so I've obviously filled it. Also, I shortened a few song to about 30secs, to tranfer & use as ringtones, but these wont go on either.

Sorry, no expandable memory on the 8700. As far as wanting media device I would suggest upgrading.
Unfortunately there's not a ton you can do on the 8700 as far as freeing up memory.
Even though there's 64 MB, that's not all free memory because your OS is taking up a chunk.
I would suggest compressing the pictures you loaded onto the device first, & that may free up enough memory to add your ringtones. Even if they are shortened to 30 secs, that's a large file.

I agree with bbcurious about the upgrade. If you want to store pictures or ringtones the BlackBerry 8700 is not the best choice.
You could try freeing up some memory on the device by using the instructions in the link in my signature titled Maximize BlackBerry Memory. It has steps for deleting preloaded media, etc. That might free up some more room.

Thanks to both of you - have compacted pics & made 3 short mp3 ringtones & goes on well.
If only could get that ringtone up as loud as it was when I was running 4.1.
Maybe when 4.5 comes out!!
