Auto Deletion of email not working on BES

We have several models of Blackberries (8800, 8700, etc) that don't auto-delete emails from the BB device after the set date. For example, on my 8700 I have it set to Keep Messages for 30 days, yet I still messages in there beyond the 30th day. This is also happening to one of my clients that owns an 8800. Is this because we are using a BES server? Is there a setting on the BES account that would allow this?

I have the same problem on a 8820 using BIS (and not BES). Did you solve the problem? If so, how?

Correct. Not sure what would cause that if using BIS email. Maybe a software glitch. Did it ever work and just stop working, or has it never worked?

 

I'd try the following:

 

  1. If it worked in the past, reset your device. Just remove the battery for 1 minute then replace it. Afterwards change your Keep Messages Setting and see if anything changes.
  2. Using the Desktop Manager, use the Backup and Restore feature to backup the data on your device. Afterwards wipe your device (Options | Security Options | General Settings. Hit your menu key, and choose Wipe Handheld). After the wipe you can use Backup and Restore to restore your data back onto your device
  3. Lastly you can try updating the OS on your device to the latest version.

No, it never worked. This is a new device, and now that it is 1 month old I noticed that emails are not deleted.

 

I already tried your last 2 suggestions. That didn't change anything.

So you've had the device exactly 30 days? Did you change the setting to that or was it set to that already?

 

If you've only had the device 30 days since the setting was changed then the messages should be gone tomorrow

 

Try changing to 15 days and post back tomorrow if there still on the device.

I didn't change the settings. The device came with 30 days as the default setting.

 

I'll change the setting to 15, and report tomorrow.
