BB 8700c automatically going into scrubbing mode

My company just sent me a replacement BB 8700c and I was changing the date on the device and it went into Scrubbing.  Why is it doing this?  I read on another forum regarding the 8300c that their is known problems that are related to corrupt software.  Has anyone had this experience and how do you fix it?  Thanks.

Re: BB 8700c automatically going into scrubbing mode

I've been around BlackBerrys quite a while and I am not familar with scrubbing mode. Perhaps we call it something different.

What is yoru BB doing?

No, I personally did not.  However, my company may have.  The BB just rebooted and it is asking me to change the password but it will not accept any....interesting.  Do you think that it is corrupted?

I have entered a new password however, it displays 'Press send to start emergency call'  I cannot access any other BB functions.

Re: BB 8700c automatically going into scrubbing mode

You need to call the BES admin for your company and see what they might have enabled as far as the scrubbing.

Are you sure you didn't the incorrect password before it started scrubbing... ten times wrong the device will automatically wipe the memory of the BB to make it unusable to anyone who finds it.

Re: BB 8700c automatically going into scrubbing mode

No, I did not type in the wrong password.  I was reviewing my email and then noticed that the date on my blackberry was August 13, 2008 so I went in to change the date and that is when it basically started scrubbing.  The other thing is that I am having a problem with charging.  I talked with my companys tech guy who set up my email and he said that it was doing that with him too.  He said that he did not know why.

What is the problem with charging?

Using a wall charger or the USB to the PC (make sure Desktop Manager is loaded to your PC, or at least the USB device drivers).

Re: BB 8700c automatically going into scrubbing mode

It is plugged into the wall charger but it will not charge.  My company IT guy told me to just keep it plugged into the wall for at least 12 hours, which I did, however, when disconnected from charging the low battery indicator comes on after 10 minutes.  He told me that it wasn't charging right for him either....I think that this device may be defective.
