Hi ... can anyone help me how to be able to change all settings (including password prompts), and install Third Party Applications

I am unable to make changes to the settings or install Third Party Applications. I have a Blackberry that was previously connected to a company's BES. Actually, I purchased this phone 6 days ago from open market; i dont know about the previous owner.

Re: BlackBerry-8800 Cannot Install Third-party softwares

You can try wiping the device, but if the IT guy don't remove the device you need remove the IT policy.

To wipe your device ( all the data is erased ), go to menu, options, Secuity Options, General Settings, press menu again, wipe handheld.

Hi and welcome to the forums!

What Urumilton gave you was the ONLY procedure to remove an IT policy. A wipe will not remove the IT policy

Your other recourse is to box up the phone and return to sender.

Thanks

Re: BlackBerry-8800 Cannot Install Third-party softwares

Hi,

Both urumilton and bifocals are right.

The IT policy is a setting that locks down facilities of the phone. It isnt supposed to be able to be removed EVER, but some people have found a workaround to get it removed (ie replacing the IT Policy).

The alternate is to activate the handset on a BES with a Blank IT policy. Most companies have this option when the release phones from the company for personal use..

Sorry.
