The trackball and certain keys on my 8800 return different values than intended.
EG. Pressing the trackball returns a u.
Pressing the Escape key returns an h
I'm on my 3rd 8800 and they all do this sporadically, then correct themselves. This one has been mis-functioning for 2 days.
Thanks for any feedback!

Hi. I also had this problem, after one day of skiing and the blackberry got too much condensate in it.
So I was not longer able to enter my password correct and waiting 2 days was not helping.
Only the back key and the 0 was not working properly.
Today one customer also called me he has problems with the trackball and another key.
The only solution at the moment is to delete the handheld and reactivate it.
Reset was not successful.

I'm having the same problem. My 880 has been working flawlessly, until last night. I took it out of my pocket and it started acting up. No moisture, no spill, no dropping it. The click of the trackball brings up "uo" and the return key brings up "hl."
What should I do? Again, there was no trauma to the system or phone at all.

Keith, did you ever get your problem fixed?
I'm having the exact same thing happen. Trackball returns 'Ou', esc returns 'Hl' and zero key returns 'Yi'....annoying as hell...thanks

Nope, I'm still having trouble. Now the "sym" key returns letters and certain keystrokes [like "a (space)" returns "on on"] and the word "No (space)" returns "nc op potc" . . . So I'm trying to figure out what to do. Warranty's up (of course), so I may have to just pay the deductible on the insurance and get a Curve.
Some people wipe the OS off completely and reload it with Desktop manager. I haven't tried it yet... kindof worried. but I may this week if nothing new arises.

i'm having the same problem, my issue is that the "a" key is totally unresponsive as is the Q, P and DEL keys. I can't do a system reset because I can't type "blackberry" since it has an "a" in it.
Can anyone help me?!?

Recently I have problems with some buttons on my 8800.
When I hit the trackball the BB writes "Uo". When I hit the 'back' button it writes "Hl".
In this tread I see that I'm not the only one... but is there a solution???
