First steps

Hello,

 

I have just bought a used Blackberry 8800 and try to do the first steps. When I switch it on there is no setup wizard but I have to type a password. What can I do to get the setup wizard?

I fear for your situation...refer:

From what you describe, the Seller steps have not been completed. Further, only the actual account holder at the former wireless service provider can normally conduct any Seller steps that must be done there. AND -- all Seller steps must be completed before the Buyer steps can begin, and if all Seller steps are not properly completed, then the buyer may be left with a useless device.

 

So, you can attempt the WIPE component of the Buyer steps if you need to...and, depending on which password you are being prompted for, failing that enough times (normally 10) will initiate the WIPE actions and enable you to try and use the BB. But, there is no guarantee that the Seller completed the rest of their steps, so you may yet be left with a useless device.
