Hello,

  Forgive me if my question seems elementary, but I am new to the forum and to use of the Blackberry.  I currently have an 8830 World Edition phone and have configure on POP email address on the device.  I can access my emails successfully.  However, if I receive an email that contains any sort of Internet type code (HTML, Java, Javascript, etc), the code does not translate and I only recieve the actual code in the email.  It is unformatted.  I tried to download a couple of so-called HTML email clients from Handango, however they seem to be limited.  I am thinking that there should be a client or a configuration for the Blackberry that would allow me to see Internet related emails formatted as intended.  Anyone run into this issue or have any suggestions?  I am deperately looking for a solution.  Thanks in advance for your input.

As you mentioned you can't view HTML formatting in your email you might be running on BIS 2.4. RIM recently introduced BIS 2.5 which supports HTML email view for its BIS customers. But this yet to be implemented for all the carriers as its been done phase by phase. For getting HTML view you also need to have device OS 4.5 (4.3 for 8110). So you're not far away from your wish!!! But can also have 3rd party software which can do the same trick for you but again these are not free.

Tanzim, thanks a bunch for the reply.  I'm not sure if I fully understand some of the things you mentioned (again, I am a BB newbie).  When you mentioned OS 4.5, what did you mean.  Is that the OS that the BB runs on?  Can I verify the version on my BB itself?  Also, any suggestions on 3rd party software vendors with a sophisticated viewere for HTML email?  I've purchased a couple of them, but they are no as sophisticated or a functional as I would like.

My email seems to work well on my 8800, I do have the preferences set for HTML mail. However, I did see a software product that may fix your problem (canbe used on the 8830).

I'm not exceptionally saavy either, and this is my first BB also, but I really like it!

Empower seems to be the best one.  However, the BIS upgrade to ver 2.5 and OS 4.5 is supposed to bring this feature to the BB.  BIS 2.5 is happening next weekend in the US and is currently running in some parts of the world, i.e. Greece so I am informed.  OS 4.5 is still a guess at this point in time.

Cool.  Thank you folks for taking the time to reply.   I've downloaded the two software packages you suggested and they work somewhat well.  I am trying to view Web formatted mail from an Oracle applications database and I'm still experiencing issues.  I think it is more an issue with what is being sent from Oracle than the ability for my BB to read standard HTML formatted email.  Standard HTML email appears to be working great.  Thanks again folks.

I apologize if you already said this but I don't quite understand all the BB lingo yet. I just got my 8830 and upgraded to the 4.5v. I do not use Enterprise though, will I be able to use html email without a 3rd party app? if so, how?
