My device keeps entering standby mode

I have a BlackBerry 8800 and all of a sudden it began to continually enter standby mode and when I make calls (both incoming and outgoing) it keeps muting during the entire call. Can anyone help me solve this problem?

Suddenly, I am having the same problem.  I can't find a "mute" key.
