How "powerful" can a phone be when it apparently lacks key BASIC functions such as the ability to control
what ringtone sounds one can apply to a simple function like VOICEMAIL notification. Better yet, try to get the thing to ring at a volume that is able to be heard in the holster or more than three feet from you. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. NEVER HAS...NEVER WILL especially if you use your own media. Here's another one....try to get applications to load to the mem card instead of the phone memory when the vaunted BB 8830 says it is running out of room. Any competent help with this would be appreciated. Thanks....I have to go work on my POWERFUL phone now.....

Hello and Welcome to the Forums!
We are so sorry that you are having so many difficulties. While many experience the same (a search here will reveal that fact), there are also many who have very positive experiences with their BB. Not every device is suitable for everyone -- which IMHO is why there are so many choices.
It is hard to tell from your post, but if you are hoping that RIM will see your message -- you should be aware that these forums are a user-to-user support channel, not a user-to-RIM conduit. As such, it is unlikely that they will see what you have written. However, if you have specific and constructive ideas for them, I have heard that they accept such via email to bbsuggestions@rim.com.
If you desire to ask other users for specific assistance about how to get the most use out of your BB, then this forum would indeed be the correct place for that.
While you did not phrase it as a question, your statements about memory are valid...only AppMemory is available for the installation of applications...no other memory areas on a BB can presently be used for that purpose. There are tricks one can use (add-ons that swap apps in and out of AppMemory as you need them), but this is how it is designed.
Good luck!
button inside of their post. Further, if you are the original poster (OP) and your issue is solved, please remember to (on the post that is the solution) click the "Accept as Solution" button so that others can more easily find it. Cheers! Oh...and FWIW...I am not a RIM employee...and these forums are user-to-user...not user-to-RIM.
