Trackball Automatically Clicking and Selecting By Itself

I'm on my third 8800 where the trackball automatically clicks and selects by itself.  It seems to be an issue with either the trackball, the keyboard, or both.  The trackball works intermittently, but when it does it has a mind of its own.  It automatically selects, replies to, and sends messages when trying to scroll.  Pressing any keyboard keys surrounding the trackball will have the same result (such as the menu, y, r, or e keys).  I accidently sent a random person 10 blank text messages in 5 seconds.  I can't type a text message without said letters automatically popping open the menu  option and then sending the message.  Whats going on?  I've only had this phone 2 months.

Re: Trackball Automatically Clicking and Selecting By Itself

Try Pulling the Battery out without turning the phone OFF.

Make sure its not connected to anything (cable, charger), Make sure its turned ON, then pull battery out.

OR

It sounds like a software fault. Even more so if nothing is behind the buttons to cause them getting stuck.

You need to download the latest version for your device from the carrier the phone was sold with.

Save the folder to your desktop, double click it to install it your computer. (can take 40 mins to download)

Then you connect up the blackberry and using the program called application loader,(which is built into the desktop manager program that came on the cd) push the new software to the device. Ensure when you see an 'advanced' box, you click into it, to check both check boxes to remove all current installed software.

Here is a list of software carrier sites:

And Also

Use BlackBerry Application Loader to install BlackBerry Device Software

Good Luck and let us know how you go..

9/10 times this is a software fault.

Re: Trackball Automatically Clicking and Selecting By Itself

Hi,

I saw it in one of the videos on youtube.

Your trackball might not be workin prply maybe coz it has accumulated lot of dust.

You can clean it by rubbing your trackball against a sheet of paper or maybe on a book page gently for a while and then use it.

Hope this solves your issue.

Thanks,

Rohit
