Turning off GPS to conserve battery life

I read where you can set GPS to turn off when you exit the application in order to cnserve the battery. I have poked through GPS and do not see this option. Any ideas? The device is an 8820

Options - Advanced Options - GPS

 

Set GPS Services to "Location Off"

 

save and exit
