Updates 4 8700?

Wow!

First of all thanks to the quick help! Secondly I apologize for being dumb to this! I had an iPhone and got rid of it and now I have an older 8700. A bit of a change! I was just wondering if someone could help me to determine if the software I currently have is the latest.

Right now I have Version 4.2.1.96

My phone does just fine how it is but I always like to play with stuff. I have looked for updates and downloads. There are so many!

 Again, thanx

Re: Updates 4 8700?

You can load OS 4.5 on the 8700, for additional features and services (like DocumentsToGo).

Here is the latest OS version for the 8700:

Follow those instructions exactly as written and you will be fine.

Always to a complete backup using Desktop Manager, first.

Re: Updates 4 8700?

Thanx again!

This BB is used so I dont have the disc  that came with it. I have a USB that works with it and when I plug it in to my P.C it recogs the hardware as a BB. Not sure if I have to have any thing special. I'm going to try to get the Desktop Manager first.

Re: Updates 4 8700?

You don't need Desktop Manager for the OS loading. See the instruction in the link.

You DO need DM for the backup... get version 4.7

Download Desktop Manager from here:

Thanx yet again!

I downloaded the DM and it backed up my content and then is now doing the update as I type! How handy! Hopefully I blow it up.
