Help!!  I am new to site. Hello, my name is Rhonda. I am attempting to locate information on how to block a specific (difficult) person so that they are not able to text me at all on my phone. Thanks for any help!

You cannot block specific SMSs but you can look here:

Options -> Security Options -> Firewall

There you can then block:

#SMS
#MMS

#PIN
#BlackBerry Internet Service

On my blackberry device there are the following options possible.

When I open Options-Security-FirewallI get the following screen:

Firewall

Status: Disabled/Enabled

-------

Block incoming messages:

[ ] SMS

[ ] MMS

[ ] PIN

[ ] Blackberry Internet Service

[ ] Enterprise Email

-------

Except messages from

[ ] Address Book Contacts

[ ] Specific Addresses

*****************************

And it is possible to turn the firewall to "Enabled" state and check that I want to block all SMS messages except of my Address Book Contacts.

Version of Handheld OS of my Blackberry Device is 4.5.0.52

It can be checked via Options-About

In case you see the different options set on Firewall Screen you should upgrade your Handheld Operating System to the most recent version.

I actually am wondering this now as well. My firewall was on and I had no clue how to turn it odd, is there a way to recover the 22 msgs that were blocked? Help please

Unfortunately they cannot be retrieved as they dont (technically) arrive on your phone, the firewall blocks them before they arrive.

And in regards to blocking specific numbers. contact your provider. I know AT&T has a feature that can do this.

Hi All,

I have an 8100 Series Pearl and I need to block a specific sender from texting me.

When I go into Options > Security Options > Firewall, I only have the following options on my phone and I'm told my app version is the latest:

Firewall

*****************************

Status: Disabled/Enabled

-------

Block incoming messages:

[ ] SMS

[ ] MMS

[ ] PIN

[ ] Blackberry Internet Service

I've called cell provider and let them know I'm having a problem with this texter but they can't do anything to help.

Does does anyone know of an app for the 8100 series Pearl that will block a specific number?

Hi

You have to delete the contact out of your address book and then goto Options > Secruity Options . Firewall > then check SMS and then Check Except messages from contacts and then exit and save.

Thats should then block your receiving texts unless you put them back into your address book at a later date, I have noticed it does not matter if you have your firewall disabled or enabled the blocking still seems to work.

I ‘m 100% sure that it would be fantastic if we can block text messages from one specific contact or number.  I used to have the sms blocked through the only way available on my BB curve 8530 (Security Options => firewall).  One day, I was expecting to receive an important txt message from a friend, but she bought a new phone whose number I didn't add to my contact list. thus, I couldn’t receive that message.  With that option, I had every number non-existent in my contact list blocked.
I had to disable the option and continue receiving desirable and undesirable text messages.
