cannot activate Blackberry Internet service

I just got a BB8830 though not from my carrier MTN which offers other BB models.

It has been impossible to activate the Blackberry Internet service on my device. The message I get each time I try is 'please send this request from a Blackberry phone." meaning my carrier doesn't recognise it as a BB.

Don't know if it's the phone or service provider having a problem.

please help.
