changing signature (read all previous threads i could find, and that stuff didn't work)

So, i have a gmail account, that i'd like to use with my blackberry.  however, i have set up my gmail account to always send from another email address.  i have tried changing the signature on my blackberry for both the gmail account and the other account, but to no avail (always saving changes).  i have also resent service books, re-registered HOST Routing Table, deleted the service books associated with both accounts, all to no avail.  i now have deleted my email accounts on my phone (under email settings on my phone), using the website (from a pc), and again on my phone (ie, deleted the service books that had an @ sign).  in other words, i should be back at square one, to the best of my abilities.  i wonder whether the particular sequence of steps i take, in terms of creating accounts on my phone, versus online, might matter? could someone please give me a step-by-step guide for *exactly* how to proceed, such that i may proceed accordingly, and have my blackberry behave as desired?  i'd be truly greatly appreciative.

best,

joshua

Re: changing signature (read all previous threads i could find, and that stuff didn't work)

Greetings, and welcome to the BlackBerry.com Support Forums.

I don't know what you read, but, the order of creation, etc., of your BIS accounts doesn't matter.

Simply change the signature ON the BIS email setup page... it is just that simple. I don't know why it would not be working for you.

Now, mind you, if you receive an email from Account 1, and hit reply, it is ALWAYS going to reply using the account from it was received. You simply can't change that on Reply To. Is that when your "wrong" signature line appears, on replies, or on any email initiated on the BB?

Re: changing signature (read all previous threads i could find, and that stuff didn't work)

Thanks for the greetings :smileyhappy:

What i've read, among other forum entries, is this: http://supportforums.blackberry.com/rim/board/message?board.id=8300&message.id=5217&query.id=105043#...

None of those suggestions solved my problem. Thus, I thought maybe the issue was dealing with gmail, by now i realize that it could not be that, as i cannot change my signature on any of my accounts.  so, i wonder what is the next thing to try, having tried everything listed in the above link several times already?

Thanks again for you help.

Well, those are the correct ways to change your signature.

You'll need to post here with much more detailed information and description of your email setup to help troubleshoot this.

Please do.

Re: changing signature (read all previous threads i could find, and that stuff didn't work)

What are the various email settings in your BIS accounts?

What are the signatures in those BIS accounts?

How you have the reply to set in the BIS accounts?

Are you trying to reply emails received on your BB, and get a different account to send it from?

Re: changing signature (read all previous threads i could find, and that stuff didn't work)

OK, here's where I am now.  Having been so frustrated with nothing working, I've decided to start from scratch, and see if we can get the simplest possible scenario working.  Once that works, I'll try to get the actual desired effect.

So.....I have deleted all the email accounts on my phone using the "E-mail settings" app on the phone.  I then deleted them all again on my BIS account (logging in from a PC).  Next, I deleted the service books associated with them (both CICAL and CMIME). Finally, I uninstalled the gmail app from my phone.  Having done all this, I assume that my phone is in a relatively original state.

Now, using my handheld, I use the "E-mail settings" app, and activate MYNAME@gmail.com.  Then, I log back into the BIS for verizon (using my PC), and create the same account there.  Next, I edit that account to change the signature from the default, "Sent from my Verizon Wireless Blackberry" to "ABC".  Then, I send an email from my blackberry.  Sure enough, the signature is the default, and not ABC.  Note that this is the simplest scenario I could think of, there is no autoforwarding with this account, or anything like that.  So, clearly, something is wrong.

Given all this, how might you proceed? I could do all the stuff recommended in the other thread I sent, including resending service books, etc., given this now relatively clean slate.  Is there something else, however, that I haven't already tried several times?  As you can imagine, this is getting increasingly more frustrating.

Thanks again for your help!

Re: changing signature (read all previous threads i could find, and that stuff didn't work)

I'm Verizon as well and here is your link to make changes on your phone...

https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=vzw&locale=en

FYI...in case you haven't used this site before and if the store set up your BB, your user name is your 10 digit phone # and the p/w is the 7 digit phone #.

Hope this helps you :smileywink:
