Re: im in serious need of help ??..

Yep, you need to contact the previous owner to have the PIN released from the carrier to which it was previously registered.

RIM can't do that, the carriers can.

ATT can't do that, if they were not the previous carrier holding the registration.

You can call O2, but they don't have to do it for you as you are not the previous account holder, so if you do call, be nice, explain  you bought the device used, etc., and need the PIN released.

Otherwise, return your device to the seller and get your money back for a non-working device... because it isn't.  :smileysad:

There's no need to resort to junior high language, I'm trying to help you and I really don't care for the immature foul words.

IF you would call Tmobile AGAIN, and this time ask the correct question: "I need to get the PIN released from a previous account. I bought the device used. I ONLY want the PIN released, not to have the device unlocked." Be nice, if you curse at them and get crazy, I doubt they will help you, as they don't have to do this for you, but only for the previous owner. They can though, I have seen it occur thousands of times.

DO YOU want to get the device UNLOCKED for use on another carrier? If so, the Tmobile rep apparently thinks you want an unlock code and from what you described in your first post, that is not what you want. If you do want it unlocked from Tmobile, then the CSR rep gave you the correct advice and for a free unlock code that is their requirements.

Is your device unlocked for use on any carrier?

To determine if your BlackBerry is "unlocked" for use on carriers other than for which it is branded:

1. On your BlackBerry, go to Options > Advanced Options > Sim Card.

2. At that screen type MEPD (see note below) on your keyboard. A new menu will pop up.

* If your BlackBerry has a SureType keyboard (71xx and 81xx devices) you will need to double-tap the P, so the actual keys entered become M E P P D.

3. Look for Network in the list.

4. If your device is "unlocked", it should say Disabled or Inactive. If it says Active, it's still locked to that carrier.

Re: im in serious need of help ??..

hi

the language was not intended for you im sorry im just frustrated with all the messing around you help has been much needed and i done as you said, and the device is unlocked to all carriers, and when i was on the phone to t-mobile i was very polite as i was hoping for a favour from them and i did explain that i had bought the device second hand and that it had obviously registered via a old user of the phone which i have no details of and thats when they told me i must become a member of t-mobile for 3 months then pay the £14.00 charge now the charge doesnt really bother me so much its the fact i have to wait 3 months before i am able to use the browser or any apps assosiated with the browser. sorry if i seemed unappriciative with my previous comment it was in no way directed towards you it was more with my anger at t-mobile and balckberry for me not be able to jus put my sim in and use it

Hi and welcome to the forums!

You might want to think about that, T-Mobile is the holdup, not Blackberry.

Who has given you more support T-Mobile or Blackberry?

Once you get your device working you can get all the info you need right here.

So while your waiting for T-Mobile, read some articles, learn some tips and tricks.

Use some "forum decorum" and people will be more than happy to help.

See the black symbol with the white star? You click on that when someone has been helpful

or has given you the answer to your problem.  If you get your answer click the solution in that post.

That way we know it's solved and you get to say thanks!

Cool?

Re: im in serious need of help ??..

Apology accepted.

Again, Tmobile is trying to give you an UNLOCK code, and you simply want the PIN released.

Or you could try follow the Tmobile advice and get a friend on Tmobile to call and do what the CSR stated to do, three month customer in good standing, etc.

But again, I don't think the Tmobile CSR has yet to understand what it is you need.
