Application Deployment Error on Blackberry 9780

Application Detail :

Application access a web service to fetch and display employee data. If the connectivity is not made , application throws an error with “SERVER DOWN” message.

Application Installation Scenarios

Blackberry Curve 8520    :  Successfully Installed and application running OK
Blackberry Bold 9780    :

Application is loaded successfully. But while launching the application , it throws error of SERVER DOWN.  To overcome this following steps are done

  • go to Options of the application
  • go to edit permissions and set DENY to all permissions.
  • Restart the Device
  • Post restart , go again to options , set ALLOW to all permissions
  • Launch the application &  application runs successfully without throwing error.
  •  In case device is restarted , same “SERVER DOWN” error appears. Same steps repeated for successful launch of the application.

Please help me for this different behaviour of the application on Bold 9780.

Any Help is appreciated.

Regards

Re: Application Deployment Error on Blackberry 9780

The server down message appears to be a custom error displayed by the application.  What error or exception is thrown to trigger this error?  What are its .toString details?  Which transport route is being used for the network connection?  Which BlackBerry handheld software version are you testing on?  You can find this under Options, About on the BlackBerry Smartphone.

Re: Application Deployment Error on Blackberry 9780

Dear Mark

Yes , this is a custom error that is being thrown when ever the application is trying to access the web service and fails to do so for what so ever reason. This could be a connection problem or could be an accessibility problem. The application would throw SERVER DOWN error message.

OS on Blackberry Device is 6.0.

Blackberry JRE being user is 5.0.

My development editor is Eclipse 1.5.

I am using kSoap2 to access the webservice.

I must point out that this error is not being generated on other BB Device.

Re: Application Deployment Error on Blackberry 9780

What is the full, 4 digit version used?  What error or exception is thrown to trigger this error?  What are its .toString details?  With that I might be able to offer suggestions.  A custom error from an application doesn't provide any insight into what exception is triggering the error.
