BB10 Deploying to Device - Problems

I've been trying to deploy a signed app (Hello World) to my device for over an hour.  When using the Wifi address, nothing happens.  If I use the USB device, it just hangs for 2 minutes, then shows: "User authentication failed".  I even tried installing a developer token, same error.  Once or twice, I Saw a "failed 2/5".

System is Windows 7 64-bit

Used to have Playbook signing keys, installed new signing keys onto the machine today and still no go.

Please help!

That indicates the password you specified for your BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha in the SDK is incorrect.  Which SDK are you using?

Hi, I'm using the device password, triple-checked it.  Also using the right password.  Interestingly, it worked once shortly after I posted (using same command-line statement).  Took a lot longer than it used to on the tablet (5-7 minutes to upload a simple hello world app onto BB10, whereas in past it took under 20 seconds to deploy).

I am using latest Webworks SDK 1.0.2 Beta for Windows.

Also, the Ripple emulator will not work.  When I try to package and build, it says a signing password isn't specified (so no -g parameter) which I can see when I look at the command prompt.  However, the signing key is specified in Ripple, using the latest version of Chrome.

Can you post the exact full error you see when trying trying to deploy from the command line?  Have you attempted a reboot of the BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha?  Can you ping its IP address?  Are you running OS 10.0.9.388?

Hello ssambhi,

Just to clarify, there are three options in Ripple when you are packaging your applicaiton:

  • Package
  • Package & Sign
  • Package & Launch

Can you please confirm which one you are executing?

Also, can you please provide:

  • The Platform selected in the Platforms panel on the left side of the screen.
  • The values in the Settings dialog you have set (i.e. full SDK path, etc.)
    • You do not need to share your signing password, but please confirm that there is a value there.

Please note that signing (i.e. -g) will only occur if you choose Package & Sign.

Choosing any other option after Package & Sign will overwrite any exising files that have already been created.

Just tried again, getting the User Authentication Error failed error.

OS is 10.0.9.388

This is getting frustrating now, shouldn't require this much effort!  Could the phone be defective?  Even Device Manager isn't identifying the phone, says Connecting.... for extended periods of time and asks for password repeatedly.

Can you provide the command line and full error for the user authentication error?  The error you posted above looks like a packaging error (different issue).
