Dev Alpha capabilities - am I missing something?

Listening to some of the sessions recorded at BB Jam Americas, I keep wondering if other people's Dev Alphas are less limited than mine ...  So, I just want to check:

I'm running 10.0.9.388  - that's the latest build, right ?

I've got:

  • Contacts
  • Browser
  • Calendar
  • BBM
  • AppWorld (demo only)
  • Games (something to do with Scoreloop, I think)
  • Camera
  • Settings
  • A "coming soon" page where the Hub will be

Everyone keeps raving about the predictive keyboard and I've seen videos of it, but I dont' ever get it on my DevAlpha -  I can see and change the settings for the predictive keyboard in the Settings, but I never get any predictions or auto-corrections anywhere.

Is that where everyone else is - or is there something wrong with my device?

(I'm just wondering, because with the announcement that apps submitted in Oct/Nov would be preferentially featured, it sounds like we should have everything we need to deliver the wonderfully integrated apps they're asking for ... but I'm not quite sure how I can invoke (& test) something that's not even there yet.)

Thanks

Anna

Re: Dev Alpha capabilities - am I missing something?

You have the expected set of applications.  10.0.9.388 does not include all features that have been demoed at the BlackBerry Jam Conference Keynote.  Some press have seen newer releases with the full keyboard experience as well.

Re: Dev Alpha capabilities - am I missing something?

Ah,that's re-assuring to know. Thanks for the reply, Mark!

So, if we submitted an app by the end of November, and added updates between then and the launch to make everything work that couldn't be tested before ... would that still count for the preferential featuring in AppWorld ?

(I know from experience that being featured is absolutely critical, so I'm taking the November deadline fairly serious, even if it's not the final deadline for the 10k-commitment)

Thanks

Anna

Re: Dev Alpha capabilities - am I missing something?

If you update your application in early January, that works. However, don’t submit to the Built For BlackBerry until you fully qualify. So you could submit for App World in November, then update in January and submit to Built For BlackBerry.
