Re: DevAlpha not updating on Desktop (Bundle 33) - 7.1.0.32

When the app you've devloped for the previous incarnations of BB phones records calls and SMS, these features are pretty key to bringing it to the new platfrom.
I'm not looking to use it as a daily phone, I'd just like some visibility of the Telephony API and the ability to test...

Why are some of you guys whining that there's no dialer app installed? It's a developer device meant for testing your own (and beginning some time soon: other dev's) apps.

  1. Everybody can imagine how a dialer might looks like, when invoked from your app. At least I can...
  2. This device is definitely not meant as your daily phone. If the battery lasts <5hrs without a SIM card inserted, how long would you suspect it to stay on during calls?

Agree. This things happens __every_second__ working at a "computing" company.

Re: DevAlpha not updating on Desktop (Bundle 33) - 7.1.0.32

After fetching the update, the installation begins and in the middle of updating a module with "'..coreos.winchester..." in its name, an error pops up on the devalpha screen saying the USB cable was disconnected, even though the device wasn't touched. Apparently this has happened twice. Any ideas?

Re: DevAlpha not updating on Desktop (Bundle 33) - 7.1.0.32

no way to get the device to startup,

no way that DM on OSX detects an update again or a repair

went over to the kids-pc, where yesterday DM on windows7 failed,

deleted entries from RegEdit

then tried to update or repair

after seven ! retries suddenly the repair button worked

now downloading OS ... will see what happens

Re: DevAlpha not updating on Desktop (Bundle 33) - 7.1.0.32

I started desktop manager, turned off bb 10, connected device via usb and clicked on upgrade.

I repeated 5 times and upgrade was successful on last try.

You just have to be stuborn.

Followed the instructions that Tim (Thanks Tim) provided. Did a security wipe first and worked great with no redosand didn't take much time.

Re: DevAlpha not updating on Desktop (Bundle 33) - 7.1.0.32

Hi everyone,

After the strange issue I had yesterday where my device had the app world & air browser added to the screen but the device still reported as 10.0.4.188.

tried doing a full reset, still hasd the above issue.

So this am, I tried under os x instead of windows & it "updated" but afterwards all I got was the bootscreen.

So as a last attempt I tried doing another wipe restore under windows & It upgraded sucessfully.

So whether the "partial" upgrade was down to having changed a setting or an app I was testing, or both I do not know.
