I'm not disputing that those who have "gone back" to the beta zone version have (in a very few cases) seen success, but I'll dispute that it's likely because of the code itself.
I just did a binary compare of the entire folder (372 files or so) for the beta zone version and the other one, and they are in fact exactly the same files, bit for bit. It seems highly unlikely that it's the beta zone one that is magically working, and far more likely that it's the actual uninstall/reinstall or something that triggers, in those cases where it appears to have an effect.

I know it's not the uninstall and reinstall but I did that on 2different computers I uninstalled it about 10 times

Seems more likely to me that there is a problem at RIM end for most of us. Hence not much we can do about it (which was my point earlier) apart from follow the instructions to obtain the correct DM version etc.
I'm on software version 10.0.4 bundle 188. Is everyone on the same software version?
Has anyone been able to update from 188?

Hi!
Not sure if its some update RIM did, but i just tried something:
- Uninstall Device Manager
- Uninstall Desktop Manager
- Delete all references from registry
- Reboot computer
- Install v7.1.0.32 Desktop Manager
Connected Dev Alpha, and voila! Update found!
EDIT: I was updating from 10.0.4.197
Hope it helps!

When I got home I tried it and it worked. Not even using debrick.
Not much to tell though, App world is there but won't let me download anything from the 8 or so choices.
Air Browser, Air Camera and Browser round off the last apps included.
