My Playbook app creates some files in the shared files folder. When running my app in the simulator, is it possible to access (read) these files from Windows?

Yes you can using the Target File System Navigator in the BlackBerry NDK.  Connect to the simulator using the NDK then click on Window menu -> Show View -> Other -> QNX Targets -> Target File System Navigator.

You can use that view to copy between a BlackBerry PlayBook (real or simulator) and your computer.

Hi Mark,

Would you please provide further instructions on how to connect the simulator to the NDK? I'm coming from the WebWorks world. I downloaded and installed the NDK. However, I'm unable to figure out how to attach the simulator to the NDK. Is this even possible from WebWorks? My apologies for not mentioning that I'm not developing using the NDK before.

First, setup the PlayBook simulator as a target.

1. Click on File -> New -> Other...
2. Expand BlackBerry Tablet OS.
3. Select BlackBerry Tablet OS Target and click Next.
4. Enter the IP address of the simulator (or use Autodetect).  Leave the password blank and complete the wizard.

Once you have the PlayBook simulator configured as a target, use the following steps to access the folders.

1. Click on the Window menu.
2. Choose Show View -> Other.
3. Expand QNX.
4. Select Target File System Navigator and click OK.
5. In the Target File System Navigator navigated to the folder that contains the file you want to copy.
6. Right click on the file you wish to copy and choose Copy To.  You can also drag and drop files to and from this window.
