Accepted Solution

Password too short on 1.0.9, cannot unlock

Cannot unlock development alpha after the new update, my password was short previously and is not accepted now not sure if I should max out the 10 tries and wipe it or wait for a solution.

Ah, too short. That must be mine's problem, too.

Re: Password too short on 1.0.9, cannot unlock

solved it by tinkering, uninstalled desktop software, rebooted, reinstalled it and then redownloaded the msi, reloaded and it worked. Not sure if it will work for everyone, best of luck.

Re: Password too short on 1.0.9, cannot unlock

I basically reached the 10 password tries before it wipes the device. After it wiped, I plugged it back in and loaded up the desktop software. I fiddled with it a bit but I believe that I held down the top button for a while until it started to recognize the device, and then it disconnected and allowed me to hit Repair...

After that, it loaded the OS perfectly fine and I'm now using it. Hope that helps. Didn't have to uninstall anything.

Re: Password too short on 1.0.9, cannot unlock

I now have the new OS installed after doing the 10 wrong password approach, but the only app on it is the Browser. I thought it was supposed to have BBM/contacts/calendar, etc now.

Re: Password too short on 1.0.9, cannot unlock

I ended up with all the apps that were said to be included. Perhaps loading one of the modules failed during the reinstall.

I know other people have the same problem as you but I never encountered it so I can't suggest anything outside of trying to install the OS again.

Re: Password too short on 1.0.9, cannot unlock

You should try to follow what I did.

I plugged the device back into my PC and I launched the desktop software. It didn't detect the device so I held down the top button on the dev alpha for about 15 seconds until I heard the "connect" sound that Windows makes when you plug in something via USB and then the software picked up the existance of the dev alpha and allowed me to repair it, which then installed the latest OS.

If that doesn't work, the message boards here and at Crackberry are full of solutions.

Re: Password too short on 1.0.9, cannot unlock

hello,

i'm just fix my BB10DA :smileyhappy:

it's just simple trick

connect your device to PC
then running the WIPERELOAD.bat , if not connected ,please hold and press POWER BUTTON until the red blinking and at the PC shows USB : PIN UNKNOWN then click OK and NEXT

so, waiting for it until success :smileyhappy:

NOTES :
I highly recommended do it on PC/LAPTOP with WINDOWS 7
because i've try on WIN XP SP3 is always FAILED for many times, really annoying :smileytongue:
