Warning: Simulators fail to boot in VMWare Player 5.0

We've recently discovered that our BlackBerry PlayBook and BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha simulators fail to boot in VMWare Player 5.0.  We are working a fixes as we speak.  In the mean time avoid this upgrade to continue using these simulators.

This issue has been resolved in the new BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha simulator released last week.

PlayBook simulator doesnt work even now in VMWare Player 5.0... Any update?

Which version of PlayBook simulator are you using?  Which SDK was it packaged in?  Did you update it since last week?

I am using "BlackBerryPlayBookSimulator-Installer-2.1.0-560-Win-201205282256". I am trying to run an Android App on this simulator. However, it doesnt allow me to go so far anyway. It doesnt boot up with VMWare 5 at all. It does boot up with VMware-player-4.0.2-591240. However nothing happens after it reaches the initial home screen. I cannot even get the IP address of the simulator. If I try to open the browser of the simulator, I see a black screen in the VMWare player forever.

 

I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling several times but am unable to get it work. I am trying this on Windows 7 laptop with Intel core 2 duo processor and Mobile Intel4 Series Express Chipset display adapter...
