BBM Channels API?

With BBM channels now in Beta, are there any plans to let us push content to Channels via our apps?

Re: BBM Channels API?

PM me with the "I want this stuff to happen" sorta message and I'll examine the APIs

Be VERY specific Oliver

Events seem to be impossible - or at least I have had zero help in this respect

I was (today - yes a Sunday) accepted for API github

I've got three APIs I have to strip the events out of and some KBs to write then publish

Now I'm with the in-crowd I may (possibly) get events sorted

[ Edited ]

Yes there is.  You will be able to use the invocation framework to share text and images with channels you own.  I will have a blog post for the BlackBerry Developer Blog on this soon.  For now, here are some targets you can play with.

Post an image to your channel

invokeTargetId: "sys.bbm.channels.sharehandler"
invokeActionId: "bb.action.SHARE"
uri: "file:///accounts/1000/shared/photos/avatar.jpg"

Post some text to your channel

mimeType: "text/plain"
invokeTargetId: "sys.bbm.channels.sharehandler"
invokeActionId: "bb.action.SHARE"
data; "This is going right into my channel!"

Both will trigger a channel picker, listing your channels (that you own, not subscribed to).  Once you select a channel it'll then prepopulate a post with the supplied info.

Re: BBM Channels API?

Good news :smileyhappy: and interesting.

I hope there will also be a mixed content option where a full pic+text post can be pushed to a channel.

Re: BBM Channels API?

There isn't right now.  But I'll send this feedback to the product owners.

Re: BBM Channels API?

Is there a uri or some other way we can link to a channel from our apps?

For example, I would like to link to my BBM channel from within the help page of my app (like linking to twitter, but not. :smileyhappy:).

No, not yet.  But it is on our roadmap.

Re: BBM Channels API?

If there is a way to integrate BBM Channels with other server-based applications, so it can be used push content from other applications to a channel?
