Hi everyon!

As I'm starting for the first time a BBM app(OS 6-7), yesterday I installed the BBM sdk and went through plenty of pages to get it working, and an overall bad experience :/

1. many docs are outdated or, even worse, missing (dead links). 
2. to test BBM apps the suggested procedure is to have 2 simulators running with the MDS. This was a pain-in-the-**bleep** process due to point 1 (above) and also because
1. the simulators included in the WebWorks SDK have an older version of BBM which does NOT support BBM Social Platform, rendering it useless. (suggestion: please include a newer version with the next SDK release to save this trouble)
2. updating BBM in the simulator seemed to work, but when restarting the simulator, it crashes so the changes never happen and I keep having the older BBM. (this crash happens with *all* the simulators I have downloaded, I can never exit or restart successfully)
3. Conclusion: I can't test the BBM integration.
4. I then downloaded a more recent simulator with BBM 6.1 and configured it to run with the MDS. Seemed to work ok and the connection with BBM worked also. I fired up a second one. Upon inviting via PIN, the simulator crashes. Can't test it again

So for now my only solution is to actually sign the app and install it on my real device (which is a slow process due to reboots), but then I can't test it to interact with a second device

Any hints? I really need to test this with at least 2 devices to make sure its working as it is supposed to...

To solve your immediate issue, try this BlackBerry smartphone simulator:  http://swdownloads.blackberry.com/Downloads/contactFormPreload.do?code=060AD92489947D410D897474079C1...

It contains the most recent version of BlackBerry Messenger (6.2).

had same issue resolved by testing on device. Go on popular blackberry forums there are lots of willing people who will test your app for you.

Thanks, I tried that one, but now I can't get the BBM invites to appear in the other device, it's like they don't connect at all using the MDS...

I'm lost on this one

Do you see any activity in the MDS Simulator window when you send the invites?

there is activity happening from time to time, but not when I send the invites

Just to confirm, you are using the sim1.bat and sim2.bat files to start the BlackBerry smartphone simulators?  Do you have any local firewalls or a VPN connection open that could be blocking communication between the MDS Simulator and BlackBerry smartphone simulators?

yes I'm using those 2 files, I just copied and edited it to match the new simulator .exe file.

just noticed now that after I start the sim i get this message in the MDS console

"MDP.map.destination.routing.point.value.3 is missing"

You should use the sim1 and sim2 files that are packaged with the simulator (note that not every simulator includes BBM Support).  Have you tried the one I linked to above?
