There's a warning about 64-bit operating systems being unsupported. What are the limitations when running on Windows 7 for X64?

We currently do not have "official" support for Windows 7 or 64 bit operating systems.  It is likely that you will see issues on these environments for the Beta.

We don't have an exhaustive list of issues with these operating systems at the moment.

Re: BlackBerry Web Plug-in 2.0 beta 1 released!

I have successfully installed and run the beta tools in Windows XP Mode under Windows 7. The performance is not great, but they work.

Re: BlackBerry Web Plug-in 2.0 beta 1 released!

By the way, when I tried to combine the BlackBerry Java Plug-in for Eclipse with the BlackBerry Web plug-in for Eclipse I wound up with a non-functioning Eclipse instance.

Re: BlackBerry Web Plug-in 2.0 beta 1 released! - what's in a name?

I am new to BB.  I'm trying to learn the difference between the VS2008 Plug-in capabilities versus using the JDE.

Installed vs_plugin.31.exe which is supposed to be release 1.2.  I do not see the Blackberry options in the New Project.

I unstalled it when I read about ver 2.0.  Dowloaded it:  it's called vs_pluin_10.exe.  So is 31 = 1.2 and 10 = 2.0?  What's in the filenaming convention that I can understand?

Re: BlackBerry Web Plug-in 2.0 beta 1 released! - what's in a name?

Hi There,

The file naming is really actually arbitrary, but I can see how it could be confusing.  The version numbers found on the website are the main items to look for. The installers should also list the version numbers.

The concept behind BlackBerry Widgets are that they are the second equal pillar to Java development on the BlackBerry  platform.  In the Beta release we have our first set of Widget API's that are a subset of what can be done in Java.

As we continue to grow the web side of the API's we will gain equality between the two platforms.

You can also combine both the Java side and the Web side together to get the best of both worlds.  We demonstrated at the BlackBerry Developer conference how you can create your own JavaScript extension to a widget where you can expose any of the Java API's to a widget.

We are hoping to get some tutorials up on this topic soon.

Re: BlackBerry Web Plug-in 2.0 beta 1 released!

Does RIM offer any developer training for this Web plug-in product? I would like to send some of our developers.

Please advise.

Thank you

Can you confirm the version of Eclipse that you are using.  The BlackBerry Web Plug-in for Eclipse requires Eclipse 3.4.x to run.
