Browser filed. Problem with displaying jad/jar files on real devices.

Hello.

I am using browser field to display pages. I started with BrowserFieldSampleApplication from JDE examples. I tried to open html, media files, open jad,jar files. On simulator all work fine. Then I tried to open these files on real device. All files instead of jar/jad are opened.

I always get RenderingException when try to get browser content when open jar/jad files on real devices:

browserContent = _renderingSession.getBrowserContent(connection, this, e);

Anybody has any suggesting?

Thanks in advance.

Does the BlackBerry simulator model and handheld software version match the actual BlackBerry handheld you are testing with?  You can see this information under Options, About.

The recommended approach for installing an application from a web server would be to open the BlackBerry Browser to the destination URL.  Please see the following link for more information.

Re: Browser filed. Problem with displaying jad/jar files on real devices.

I know how to initiate file installation dialog (or open file) using default browser. But this solution does not allow me to get installation completeness time (when user cancelled installation or application has been successfully installed or failed).

Please see discussion here. http://supportforums.blackberry.com/rim/board/message?board.id=java_dev&thread.id=10231r

Ya. As leon max said, This solution does not allow me to get installation completeness time.

I think completenes time issue can be solved by using this code.

Re: Browser filed. Problem with displaying jad/jar files on real devices.

Hello Danieltooop.

Solutions that you point will not work on real device. If you review this thread from the begging and releated thread http://supportforums.blackberry.com/rim/board/message?board.id=java_dev&thread.id=10231r, I wrote that I used BrowserField to open jar/jad files and determine result of the installation. But on real device such approach doesn't work. It is allways returned rendering exception when tries to get browser content (Also note: this bug is only reproduced for jar/jad files).
