Can't run apps on Simulator OS 6, get Local connection timed out

Hi

I'm trying to run my app, and a sample app (UI Examples) on SmartPhone simulator, OS 6.0.0.546, 9300-Vodafone

Both apps I'm trying to run work on OS5 simulators, but on OS 6 9300 sim they get stuck on loading screen, and eventually timeout with "Local connection timed out after ~120000"

Am I missing something - searched on the new and saw similar questions but can't find any answers that apply.

Any ideas appreciated - prob something stupid I'm forgetting.

Are you running the MDS Simulator at the same time?

No - I saw this mentioned before.

What does this do - and how do I use it ?

Since I saw it mentioned in another article (on the relevant topic) I did download and install MDS

==> BlackBerry Email and MDS Services Simulators 4.1.4 and then ran run.bat .. and it didn't work.

mmm - I just retraced my steps and decided to try and run run.bat with ADMINISTRATIVE Privileges - and then the app seems to run ...

trying 9300 OS 6 Simulator ....

Also working now :smileyhappy:

So problem was that I needed MDS - which I had tried, but not in Admin mode.

Thanx - that solved it !

So when do I need MDS ? (if there is a short answer - else will read up the details)

There's a description of the MDS Simulator here . The crux is the MDS Simulator allows you to easily test a network connection.
