Both browser and WebWorks apps are based off the same WebKit rendering engine. As long as the libraries being used support Web standards, they will have the same level of supported in both environments.
Can you do a quick check using remote web inspector to identify what the runtime error is?

That explains the problem. This is a white listing error. WebWorks applications need to explictly declare <access> elements for domains of any remote content they wish to access within their config.xml file.
