Development using Gears?

Hello all,

This is Hossam from Product Management at RIM.

I'm wondering how many of you use or are planning on using Gears in your browser development? Of the following APIs, which do you use or plan to use the most?

- Factory
- Blob
- Database
- Desktop
- Geolocation
- HttpRequest
- LocalServer
- Timer
- WorkerPool

Thanks,

Hossam

Re: Development using Gears?

Probably a silly question, but do you mean for desktop stuff, or on the blackberry.  I didn't see a blackberry install for using gears, but I do have it on my Windows machine. (although I'm not very familiar with it, I only know what it is.... in a very basic sense)

Re: Development using Gears?

Hello sday,

I meant in both the wired and wireless worlds. Gears is currently supported on other mobile devices, so for those of you that do develop on other platforms in addition to BlackBerry, I'd love to hear about your usage.

If you've only done Gears development in the wired world, I'd still like to hear about your usage and how you see the various components of the API set applying in mobile.

Re: Development using Gears?

Hello,

I have implemented Google Gears Geolocation for Windows Mobile. Will Google Gears also be available for BlackBerry devices? I would appreciate to read more details from RIM about this.

Thank you.
