Hi everyone. I'm new to web development and don't fully understand the role a js framework plays in an app. I've started with jQuery, but people have said I should try prototype.js or node.js for my project, which is a multiplayer strategy game.

Is it important to select a framework early on, and making sure it does everything you need so you don't have to use multiple frameworks?

Hi!

In my opinion, those "big" JS frameworks are mutually-exclusive. You should find one that works for you and stick with it. Using jquery and prototype at the same time would be weird, and could very likely result in strange conflicts.

Node.js is server-side, so it doesnt apply here.

If you're doing a game you'll probably end up using more than 1 framework, especially because jquery doesnt do graphics and all of that

But as it is 2 completely different areas, they will complete, not conflict, with each other.

Very good to know. It is a game but text based strategy so jQuery should be good.
