Does the RIMM web browser have access to any services (content or functions) on the handset itself?

Hi,

Does the RIMM web browser have access to any services (content or functions) on the handset itself?

Can i write a html or ajax applictaion that can run in the RIMM browser that can access the phone functions like calender,contacts etc

The Blackberry browser can call a phone number that appears in a web applications, or email an email address that appears in a web app. Some have even accessed blackberry maps via a address in a web app. However, the low level device APIs are not currently accessible.
