I have been working on a WebWorks app for the playbook, and have been testing it on my local web server to ensure everything worked OK , the app uses a small Flash element to play mp3 audio from a remote server.
In the web browser on the playbook this works 100%, but when compiled into a .bar file and installed it refuses to play the audio, I've got all the crossdomain.xml set up and that works.
My understanding was what works in the browser should work in a WebWorks app.

When you say "compiled into a .bar file"... what all are you placing in the bar file? Are you loading the mp3 file into the bar.. just your SWF?
Any reason why you aren't using the HTML5 audio tags?

html5 audio tags don't work with extension-less mp3 shoutcast streams.
I'm only loading the swf into the bar file, as the mp3 files is being streamed from shoutcast.

And you have whitelisted the domain where the MP3's are located in <access> tags in your config.xml

My guess is that you are running into cross origin issues with the flash audio player. I personally don't have any experience with it.
But when you package the swf locally in the webworks application it is running under the "local://" domain. This may be clashing with some kind of internal flash player security for the MP3 hosted on an other domain.
