Focus cursor no longer appears in SVG content

by BlackBerry Development Advisor on ‎02-17-2010 11:00 AM (1,183 Views)

Summary

This article applies to the following:

  • BlackBerry® Browser
  • BlackBerry Internet Service 2.0 or later
  • BlackBerry Mobile Data System Connection Service 4.1.2 or later

Problem

SVG pages viewed in the BlackBerry Browser no longer display a square cursor on focusable areas (such as links).

Cause

Support for the default focus square, that would appear if no focus indicator was specified, has been deprecated.

Resolution 1

Content providers should provide their own focus in and focus out behaviour that can be used on focusable areas (such as links).

Resolution 2

The following line can be added to the top of the SVG document prior to the <SVG> tag.

<?plazmic pmeVersion="0.2"?>

This will force the BlackBerry Mobile Data System or BlackBerry Internet Service to transcode the SVG content into PME version 0.2, which contained the default focus square behaviour.

Note: Making this change will prevent the document from using any new features supported in PME versions greater than 0.2.
