Hi!
On http://blackberrydev.si/font-changes-in-bb-10/ I've put a post about font changes in BB 10 when using Cascades or bbUI.js.

Great. I love the new choices!
But I hope that RIM considers making their new standard font available to developers...
A quick reminder: Google open sourced all fonts since Android 1.5 and Microsoft at least ships the WP7 font with your free VS2010 Express for WP download. I don't know about the iGuys, since their mobile OS's standard font came preinstalled on my MacBook.
Why should RIM do this?
One might need the font for creating BB10 themed logos / images or simply for testing WebWorks apps in Ripple...

In addition, Google Web Font offer a large library of Font, and it's a FreeFont.

I went the hard and stressful
way and extracted all fonts (amongst other interesting things) from the BB10 simulator, where extracting means: installing a QNX Neutrino VM first in order to gain root access to the BB10 filesystem...
These fonts are in TTF format and work fine for my needs (Chrome & Photoshop in Mac OS X). But for legal reasons, I cannot simply share the files.
If RIM doesn't offer a more convenient solution soon, I will post (or blog) an easy-to-follow tutorial that leads through the process.

Thank you for the comments.
The BB10 fonts are property of their respective owners. Developers may contact RIM for the Slate Pro font file and sign a NDA. They are responsible to contact the third party companies owning the other fonts and comply with their licensing or copyright settings.

Come on, RIM... Why don't you go out and simply BUY that font with all required (sub-)licenses?
I'm currently running in the next stupid situation. After "borrowing" that font from the simulator for usage in my app logo I now would like to include it in a browser extension in order to provide a seamless cross-device experience.
Leaving the licensing to us seems a little stingy to me.

Also stuck in the same situation, hate the standard font, would love to change the system font to something i prefer.
Feels like and Apple iPhone which also ties you in to their proprietary fonts ![]()
Can somebody please help me.
Thanks so much.
Much appreciated.
