Handle and cancel mouse events

I am unable to make this simple scenario work.  I am using the 9500 simulator.  I want to capture a mouse event, then cancel the default behavior.  Can someone please modify this Javascript code to be correct for Blackberry?  Clicking the DIV correctly calls the "test()" function, but I cannot get my event properties.

function test(event)

{

      alert(event.clientX);

      event.preventDefault();

}

<div onclick="test()">Some text</div>

Thanks much.

Re: Handle and cancel mouse events

Hi ericjbb,

Your code is valid but you're missing one step.  That is to pass the event object in your onclick.  If you change it to something like the following it should work.

function test(event)
{
      alert(event.clientX);
      event.preventDefault();
}

<div onclick="test(event)">Some text</div>
