since the push forum seems to be dead (and my blog comment stayed unanswered the last 6 days).
Here is my post: BB10 not receiving my pushes.
I have a (seemingly) working BB10 WebWorks client and a (seemingly) working PHP server, however the message does not come through.
Does anybody here have push experience?

I just responded in this thread to the issue you're having getting a push:
In terms of your blog post, here's some feedback:
1) No, there is no dependency of the Push Service SDK on Apache Tomcat. We provide sample web applications deployed on Tomcat as an example only. You can deploy the web applications you develop using the Push Service SDK on any application server you’d like. Our sample web apps are written in Java and make use of the Spring Web MVC framework. These are just samples. You can write your UI front end in whatever language you’d like as you long as you are able to call the underlying Java APIs in the SDK.
2) Currently, the Push Service SDK installer (with a GUI) is only available for Windows and Linux. But, you can also download the SDK as a zip file or tar.gz file directly from the Push Service webpage (https://developer.blackberry.com/services/push). The links say Windows and Linux for these files, but you can really use them on any OS that can extract these file types.
3) The “practical version” actually is the free one for the BlackBerry Push Service. “Push Essentials”, as we call it, is equivalent to the services offered for Android and for iOS. You send a push, the application gets it. And, you don’t have to worry about anything else.
Let me know if you have any questions.
