How to connect to the internet on BB10 alpha dev simulator

Hi,

I an a newbie in BB dev. On BB10 alpha dev simulator, I am unable to browse any webpages from the air browser. The browser says ERROR for all the URLs.

I have launched a webworks app on this simulator. This app needs internet access. Please let me know how to solve this problem.

I have tried one way to solve it, but that did not work. Changed Virtual machine settings from NAT to bridged mode(for bypassing proxy).

Thanks in advance,

Prachi

Re: How to connect to the internet on BB10 alpha dev simulator

So your PCs internet connection requires using a proxy server?

I fear you are out of luck at the moment then. :/

While Dev Alpha (and PlayBook) devices actually support the use of proxy servers when connected via WiFi, the simulator does not use the configurable wireless interface for connecting to your PC and manual ethernet configuration is not possible via the UI...

One workaround that might work, if you have access to the DHCP server (or can set one up by yourself) is trying WPAD (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_Proxy_Autodiscovery_Protocol). I don't know if BB10 / TabletOS have that implemented. It might be worth a try.

Re: How to connect to the internet on BB10 alpha dev simulator

Hello,

The alpha dev simulator IP is already proxy bypassed,so it is not using any proxy server to connect to the internet. Still I am unable to access web pages/internet from my blackberry 10 webworks app.

I have included an <access> element in config.xml file for the required uri.

Is there anything else that I need to do to be able to access internet?

Thanks,

Prachi

What about the browser installed in the simulator, are you able to open websites in there?

Then I assume it isn't a problem/issue of the app you installed and you need to check the connection of the simulator running within VMWare or the connection in the simulated BB10 OS running (Settings->WLAN? simulates connection I think).
