Developing for the web allows for a wide variety of choices when it comes to your IDE, or even going without much of a traditional IDE. Eclipse is one option among many and you can try different ones to find the one that suits your development approach and needs.
Here is a short list to get you and others started:
Eclipse (http://eclipse.org/)
Aptana (http://aptana.com/)
WebStorm (http://www.jetbrains.com/webstorm/)
Dreamweaver (http://www.adobe.com/products/dreamweaver.html)
VisualStudio WebDeveloper (http://www.microsoft.com/visualstudio/en-us/produc
Notepad++ (http://notepad-plus-plus.org/)
PSPad (http://www.pspad.com/)
Sublime Text (http://www.sublimetext.com/)
I'm thinking now that I should write a blog on this topic. Personally I started using Sublime Text about 2 weeks ago after a recommendation at BB10 Jam and I'm completely thrilled with it, but I'm also gonig to give Visual Studio a try since it looks pretty good too.
As for getting started, we have a getting started section with a sample on our HTML5 development site:
