BlackBerry  Web Plugin 2.0 Beta for Visual Studio 2008

I installed the BlackBerry  Web Plugin for Visual Studio 2008

I created a Web Site (didnt change any of the files).

Then I try change to Default Browser,  the Blackberry Default Browser dont apaer in de windows Browse with.

In Tools --> Options --> Blackberry

Default ASP.Net Simulator
Default Blackberry Widget Simulator 9500 (Version 5.0.0.307)

Why i dont see the blackberry browser in "Browse with windows"?

How can i set blackberry browser by default

Hi there,

Just to clarify, when you right click on an ASP.NET web page and select "Browse With.." the BlackBerry Browser does not show up?

If this is the case, you can follow the below steps to try and get it registered in that list:

1. Make sure that Visual Studio is currently not running.
2. From a command line window browse to the install directory of the plugin.  Typically “C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Web Plug-in 2.0 VS9\bin”
3. Run the following:  “RIM.Net.Tools.Installer.exe /install”
4. Reopen Visual Studio and check the Browse With again… the entry should be displayed.

When I Run “RIM.Net.Tools.Installer.exe /install” then display the following message  "Error loading visual studio's Browser.XML. Blackberry browser entries were not installed ."

There is an XML file for Visual Studio that it is trying to modify.. Let me talk with the team to get you instructions on where that file is and what needs to be modified in it.

For some reason, either our install cannot find the file to modify, or it cannot modify it for some reason.

Here are some manual steps you can take to register the BlackBerry browser..

Here’s the instructions for manually adding the BlackBerry Browser to the IDE.

1.       Create a new or open an existing Web Project.
2.       Right click on the project node and select the ‘Browse With’ menu option.
3.       Click on the ‘Add’ button on the right hand side.
4.       Click on the ellipsis ‘…’ button and browse to the ‘RIM.Net.Tools.ScriptHost.exe’ executable.   This is typically found in the following directory.  ‘C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Web Plug-in 2.0 VS9\bin’
5.       Click the ‘Open’ button to select the executable.
6.       Optionally change the friendly name to something more recognizable.  IE (BlackBerry Browser)
7.       Click the ‘OK’ button to accept your changes.
8.       Select you newly added entry and click the ‘Set As Default’ Button
9.       Select the ‘Browse’ button to optionally view your page… or ‘Cancel’ to accept your changes without viewing.  Please note that ‘Cancel’ does NOT lose your changes.

Once you have done this once.. you should be good for debugging in the BlackBerry Browser.
