I have an issue. I have an icon that launches the blackberry browser to display a web page for my users. But now some users have the new 6.0 os, now with tabbed browsing. My issue is that when my page is launched, it is launched on the 2nd tab (most users do not see it) and the user must click on the number 2 to get to it as the blackberry is showing its start page or home page.
Is there any way to get around showing this homepage/startpage/tab when I am launching my own page?

I am very interested in this.
I have not seen this behaviour, but something similar.
Users with older devices that have been upgraded to os6.0 (i.e not a native os6.0 device - Torch)
When they click on a channel to open a webpage, a new tab is created everytime, even if a tab is already open from a previous channel click.
This is different from the Torch, the same tab is used for a channel if already open.

When a brower is closed, and no tabs are opened, the user clicks the web icon (which should open just the programmed url) opens the blackberry browser with 2 tabs. The main focused tab being the blackberry start page for apps and such, and a hidden tab of the url I need opened.

What version of the os 6 are you testing on?
Have you tried upgrading.
I am on v220.127.116.111 (9650) and I do not see this issue.
It could be related to the options on the browser but it feels like a bug to me that may have been fixed.

Strange, I am on the same 6.0 Bundle 1741 (v18.104.22.1681) (9650).
There is nothing I can seem to do to stop this home page from coming up (http://mobile.blackberry.com/home.jsf)

Yes it is strange.
Are you on a BES, could it be BES policy?
How are you creating the channel the web page is linked to are you using a channel push app?
Have you tested this with anything else, does it do it for all channels?

I have experienced this same problem on two Verizon Bold 9650 devices that I upgraded to 6.0 OS. I had a web icon that went to a specific site and it would load the default home page. mobile.blackberry.com/home.jsf and place the site that I actually wanted on tab two. Nice feature. After some testing and playing with the source of the Web Icon app I was able to correct this behavior by simply chaning one line of code.
instead use the DEFAULT_BROWSER constant to get the desired effect.
This may actually be a result of some policy setting on my BES servert that I will be investogating but for now this gets around the problem introduced by the 6.0 OS upgrade.
