NFC api

Just returning from the BB Jam 10 in London - the winner of our lightning pitch was all about NFC (both myself and one of my employers wanted to vote for him - even though we pitched ourselves). Wierd thing is he was a - anyone else wanna pitch? [we were one short]

We have several applications that we're looking at NFC being NFC aware and certain BB7 and the BB10 alpha have the same capabilities

[Mark / Tim] Any chance of the API before six weeks?

For those unaware of NFC it's a bit like swiping your CC without actually having to put it in a device - you just hold it near the reader and it knows who you are

You can get a dev kit for about 15 bux (US) - just google NFC dev kit

I'm not certain which 7 devices NFC is on but [Mark/Tim] will let us know - I'm sure

Re: NFC api

There is already an NFC WebWorks extension for BlackBerry 7 :

https://github.com/blackberry/WebWorks-Community-APIs/tree/master/Smartphone/NFC

Is this what you are looking for?

Custom extensions will also be supported for WebWorks on BlackBerry 10. When they are, I expect developers will be able to re-use the existing NFC material for BlackBerry 10 to create their own extensions:

Re: NFC api

I too was at the event & voted for Rod. Great pitch especially as he only had about 5 secs to prepare!

Re: NFC api

I loved Rod's pitch too - wish I'd done mine but the boss had already pitched :smileysad:

At the end of Rods I looked at Tim (1st pitch) and said - y'know - I wanna vote for him

Boss says - So do I :smileyhappy:

I did the private pitch via email to BB when I got back home...
