OS 5 hotspot browser and html5

Hi

I am using an old BB 9550 device for testing a wap.  THe device has no carrier now just wifi so it seems i am limited to using the hotspot browser - the others cannot connect to the internet (is this normal -shouldn't I be able to?) So assuming i am stuck with the hotspot browser I needs to know if it is compatible with the html 5 navigator.geolocation apis or the google gears stuff.  When i hit our sight with this device using the hotspot browser I get this
 error: [object net.rim.device.apps.internal.browser.gears.PositionError

All this app needs is the position its nothing too fancy.  code looks like this:

function retrieve_postal(callback) {

    try { if(!google) { google = 0; } } catch(err) { google = 0; }
    if(navigator.geolocation) {
        navigator.geolocation.getCurrentPosition(function(position){
        	lat = position.coords.latitude;
        	lon = position.coords.longitude;
                postalfromlat(position.coords.latitude,position.coords.longitude,callback);
        });
    }
    else if(google && google.gears) // Google Gears GeoLocation
    {
        var geloc = google.gears.factory.create('beta.geolocation');
        geloc.getPermission();
        geloc.getCurrentPosition(function(position)
        {
        	lat = position.coords.latitude;
        	lon = position.coords.longitude;
               postalfromlat(position.latitude,position.longitude,callback);
        },function(err){alert(err);});
    }

}

The device runs  os 5.0.0.713 and its old carrier was telus.

Re: OS 5 hotspot browser and html5

OK, so maybe I need without knowing that I still need to debug my app in a blackberry browser in a way that lets me inspect objects etc,   is there a way to do that?
