I encouraged a colleague of mine who did some pretty nice HTML5 stuff recently to port one of his projects to the PlayBook. (low hanging fruits, you know)
He submitted his app (a nice looking "World Factbook") in mid-February (I don't know the exact date) after having had several fights with the premature WebWorks CLI tools.
Today he got a "your app was rejected" mail, because - have your seatbelts fastened - his app was not built using the 0.9.4 SDK.
Could some developer please tell the "test house" that 0.9.4 is a piece of cr*p? It is (at least for WebWorks, not AIR) the worst of all versions, since bbwp denies building as described here and here (and no: copying the named .dll to system32 did work for him). I tried it for myself was not able to compile the demo (scrapbook) thing on a Mac.
You deny a (BTW perfectly working) app, because it is not compiled with a tool, that has such major problems?! Only a couple of days before the deadline?
I'm not sure if he was serious with his words "not worth the effort", but I totally understand his anger...

Ditto.

There's probably something wrong with his install or something. Has he tried to reinstall the WebWorks SDK and/or do the build on another system? For most people things seem to be working fine. I've had issues with the 0.9.4 SDK as well but none of them have encouraged me to start bitching and moaning which tends to really not solve anything. Has your friend has any success with that approach in the past? I'd be surprised.
That was the SDK part.
On the Test House part I have to agree that I'm unsure why they rejected the app. I would have expected acceptance with a remark 'please recompile with the 0.9.4 SDK'.

I too got the rejected message (use the 0.9.4 sdk) today on my WebWorks app...
I'll try the upgrade to 0.9.4 tonight.

Sorry for my harsh tone. It was me bitching, not him.
I'd really understand RIM rejecting <0.9.4 builds if their current SDK version was stable. I indeed just fired up Windows in a VM and was able to fix the jvm.dll issue as suggested here. So it "could" work if you're

I'm on a Mac myself and while the PB Simulator acts a bit weird at times everything does work for me.
I do agree completely b.t.w. that 0.9.4 is a really crappy release compared to 0.9.3.
I expected to see 0.9.5 follow really soon to fix all the issues but apparently that's not (yet) happening.

btw... I got email for couple of my apps that I needed to upgrade to 0.9.4. But it was not rejected. Are you sure about the rejected part?

Good point - my email subject line:
***BlackBerry App World Notification - File Release Denied ***
It did not say 'Rejected'...

I get the same error. Wasn't very pleased with it because it isn't very clear. Not sure if they've tested the app further or not.

0.9.4 is really buggy
It changed something directly affected display.
I dare to say it's "clever"
I modified my app to fit the change. Although I submitted the new version, I still don't know whether there will be another "deny".
