Re: widget in actual device (RIM Crypto API - Certicom)- CSO file

[ Edited ]

Dear all,

I have written a blackberry widget application to do Encryption of the data passed.

I have tried invoking the function using java script extension and it works properly in the emulator

Since the api is restricted and requires code signing i have bought code signing keys from blackberry

(i dont get restricted api access alert when i try to run in the phone)

But the application fails to do RSA Encryption in the actual device.

The actual process that i have done:

Created a widget application and exported the jar file

The exported jar file was imported to the Widget application

The functions needed to invoke encryption was called and compiled

The cod file generated was signed and tested in the emulator (worked properly)

The signed cod file was added to the phone and tested. The application started and first few alerts in my function came and stoped near the crypto activity

Doubts:

Is it enough if i sign the widget cod file (because the actual api call is in the jar file)

If the jar file contents should also be signed how should it be done

regards

Charley

Re: blackberry widget does not run in actual device (RIM Crypto API - Certicom)- CSO file

Dear all,

I think i have narrowed in the problem. In the CSO file i find

33000000=RIMAPPSA2
52424200=RIM Blackberry Apps API
52435200=RIM Crypto API - RIM
52434300=RIM Crypto API - Certicom
52434900=RIM Crypto API - Internal

Do i need to get certicom certificates  also to sign the application or will rims code signing keys will do. ( I have already signed the application with rims code signing keys)

If i have to fetch certicoms certificate where should i apply for and what would be the cost.

Kindly guide me

thanks and regards

Charley

Hi Charley,

Just email devsupport@rim.com and they should be able to hook you up.  As far as I know we don't charge anything for the certicom signing keys
